Baker’s Dozen

At every single birthday, I reminisce about the day, the moment that each of my children were born. It does sound gruesome and icky for the most part but it’s my own way of cherishing a wondrous moment of both my life and that of a newborn offspring.

This year’s birthday for my youngest is bittersweet; this year he turns 13. *sigh*

Thank You

Posted on

A belated but heartfelt thanks to everyone who made my birthday a special day.

My family for the phone calls, private messages, silly Facebook posts (yes, I’m looking at you, Bee!) and virtual and real hugs.

My work colleagues for the birthday card, the cake which I shared with fellow November babies, Josica especially for the roses and the homemade tiramisu.

My friends online and offline who remembered the day and sent messages throughout the day; having friends in all time zones mean I celebrate my birthday well over 24 hours. Thank you all.

Another year over, another year wiser I hope. Looking forward to the challenges of the year ahead and making new memories and achieving more life goals.

Salamat x

Some trivia about the number 44:

  • The largest number for which Wolfram Alpha offers a visual representation. I am not exactly sure what this means but the word “Wolfram” means something to me. And if you know me, you would know why.
  • The code for international direct dial phone calls to the United Kingdom.
  • Vicks Formula 44 is a cough suppressant.
  • Barack Obama is the 44th President of The United States of America.
  • The number of candles in a box of Hanukkah candles.
  • In the year 44 BC, Julius Caesar, assassinated in the Senate.
  • In the year 2044, the events of the 2012 science fiction film “Looper” take place.

Meanwhile, in the here and now, I turned 44 years old today, and my iPhone knows how to make my day!

I did receive private messages from my children, a hug from the husband and the youngest son, phone call from my parents and lots of messages from friends and family everywhere. Josica made a special tiramisu cake and brought me flowers. My colleagues made the day quite special. Thank you all.

Excuse the bingo wings!

The best part of my birthday card from work this year is this :

I did not expect that, which makes it even better! Thank you everyone for the well wishes, the emails, the PMs, the WhatsApp messages. I do not feel my age at all 🙂

My baby turns 12 today.

That means no more child’s rate for airline tickets or hotel rooms. That’s one year away from being a teenager. The next 12 months will be the last of his childhood. But he will always, always be my baby.

Earlier this year, I casually mentioned to the husband that we should try and go to the F1 Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi while we can. It’s only been going on for 6 years and we probably would not be able to go to any other Grand Prix anyway. That’s one of the good things about living in the UAE, concerts, movies, events like this are far more affordable that if we were back in the Philippines.

So this past weekend was a double celebration: our first Grand Prix and my birthday.

It’s that time of the year again

It’s Johann’s birthday – yay!

Feels like only a while ago when we attended his super cool airline-themed birthday party. This year’s theme, however, is bowling. Yay! So you can imagine, I brought along a pair of handknitted socks so that I could play too. I wouldn’t pass up a chance to knock down some pins whenever I can. For the knitters out there, this was the lucky pair I wore to the bowling party. Love me some STR and Cotty!

To the most wonderful man I have ever known,

my husband, happy 44th birthday.

Thank you for everything that you have done and continue to do for our family.

You hold us up, all of us. I love you.

And now for some thought-provoking, inspiring trivia:

44 is the Master Vibration of Dynamic Inspiration. And it requires balance between worlds. Balancing family/work, spirit/earth, emotion/logic, etc. with a strong foundation established in each. Foundation is key. Without a good foundation, things fail. Like the house built on sand. 44 tests that foundation. But it also tests connection between “earth and sky.” Foundation is half the equation. A building isn’t enough to just have the foundation and skeleton. The realization of the vision involves the rest, the design, the architecture. You won’t get there without the planning and work (4), but it’s not complete until the rest is put together – the part everyone sees and focuses on (8). That’s why 8 is the number of completion. And that’s why it’s so attractive and glowy. It’s like a celebrity. It’s the pretties we see in that fantastic feat of architecture. No one tends to admire the foundation, but the building would not be possible without it.
