Eye-candy Friday

This parcel arrived just in time. If you ask me, I think Dani bound this parcel with a spell so that it arrived just at the perfect time.

I received my loot from my first ever Sunshine Yarns shop update earlier last week. It could not have been a better pre-cursor to the premier of the final film. The update was manic, but fun! I was cart-jacked twice but managed to get a good selection in the end.  From bottom: Neville in Merino Worsted, McGonagall in Merino Sport, Devil’s Snare and Hagrid in Classic Sock.

This is something I love about Dani’s dyeing technique. See how many colours are seemingly randomly splattered all over the skein? Just beautiful! They don’t look muddled. It’s organized chaos at its prettiest. Devil’s Snare has got to be one of the most beautiful colours I’ve seen, both online and in real life.

Here’s another example of Dani’s technique. This is Hagrid, see the brown all over it and how random the lengths are? I cannot wait to knit this one up and see how they scatter all over the socks. Yes, this will become a pair of socks.

She is brilliant at Transfiguration and she loves Harry like her own son. She is Minerva McGonagall, Head of Gryffindor House. These colours, I think, reflect her Scottish ancestry. I plan to make a Clapotis scarf with this as so many others have done before me.

Longbottom. What a strange name for a brilliant young wizard! Neville is a true Gryffindor and a noble friend. He is just as colourful a character as this skein is. It is wild and beautiful. I think my grandson Nash would look great in a tassled hat out of this skein. Don’t you think so?

We saw the film on IMAX last week. I am still mulling it over, but I loved it. I love how they condensed all the information in the book into 2 hours of film. The little things that they altered didn’t really affect the conclusion of the film. I reckon I will be doing a review of the film soon so watch this space.

You might remember I knit a pair of socks in the Original Opal Harry Potter sock yarn (I got Dumbledore since they had run out of Harry and Tonks!! and Ron was way too orange….) BUT these colours are so clear and beautiful. Am (jealous 1000)…….. Can’t wait to see what you do with them!!
