My love affair with the colour Tart continues with fervour. I have yet to see this colour in a yarn base that does not appeal to me. The latest addition to my stash is the new Alpaca Sport base from Madelinetosh.
Did I hear a pin drop? 🙂 Yes, you read that right. Alpaca. Those who know me know that I am not a big fan of this member of the camelid family. It’s the fuzziness of the fibre which makes me think it is itchy. But I’ve touched scarves and garments knitted out of alpaca and I have to agree they are quite soft.
So when this new yarn base came up on Etsy, and in Tart too, I grabbed 4 skeins which should be good enough for a decent top. Just look at the colour!
Mmmmadelinetosh. Well, it does not sound quite as good as Mmmalabrigo but the feeling is the same. It is only very slightly fuzzy, thanks to the 50% superwash merino wool content. The other 50% is baby alpaca, which I think means it is softer than regular alpaca.
Each skein has 240 yards of wool/alpaca goodness so perfect for a plain top. At the moment I am thinking of making Chiton Pullover by Melissa Wehrle. Not sure if the yarn will hold up to this, or if it will be too drapey, but I think it will work.
This brings my Tart stash to 4 different yarn bases. I would like to see this is Sock and Vintage; then I think I will have satisfied my hunger for more Tart.
