When Madeline Tosh sent my Sport shipment for the Yarn Club, they sent me the same colourway twice. It was Tweed, which is the natural tone shipment. So instead of 2 skeins of two different colourways, I got 4 skeins of the same. But the ever-efficient April was quick in correcting that and sent me the right colourway asap. Thanks, April!
This came into the office the other day and I could not have been happier with this colour. I love blue, but this variegated blue with hues of indigo, lilac and pink is just beautiful.
Around the same time, I received yarn from Denmark, thanks to dear Dieuwke who offered to buy these for us. It was on sale and I have seen the yarn before because she was working on a halter top when we first met her. It’s a beautiful soft yarn which has a lovely drape on the finished garment. I chose two colours, 10 skeins of each. This is Sart Rosa, a nice pink shade, not too bright, not too pale, just enough pink.
The other is a beige colour, which I think would make a nice neutral top. I’m thinking about knitting a seamless Katrina Ballerina Lace Layering Cardigan with this, for me. I will need to first work on the math then knit a gauge swatch to make sure this will fly since the pattern calls for worsted.
One last glimpse of the Avonlea then before I go and enjoy my weekend. Wouldn’t this be awesome as a shawl?
The Avonlea is so beautiful – the perfect shades of a flower, so delicate. It’s going to make a gorgeous shawl!
