New yarn plus a(nother) WiP

The knitting never stops. If I could do it in my sleep, I would! But you’re here for the eye candy so here goes.

Yarntini’s Knit, Drink and Be Merry Semi-Solid Club is going strong. So far the colours are rich and highly saturated, until May’s shipment which is called Mint Fizz. It’s cool to the eyes, just like an iced lemony minty drink would be on a hot summer day!

I’ll spare you the sordid details of how I almost lost this precious skein, but will tell you that I plan to knit my second Swallowtail Shawl with it. I’m also knitting with Yarntini for the first time, but more on that later.

Remember how Yarntini and Plucky both had similar colourways for two consecutive club shipments? Well that pattern is now broken and with a bang to from Sarah aka Plucky Knitter! Just take a look at this striking super red yarn!

It’s her silk merino fingering weight base and it’s one of the most beautiful reds I have ever laid eyes on. With two skeins of this, I think I can make a really big Seriously Simple Shawl. The colourway is called Funny Affair withTiffany’s. I’ll let you guess which Audrey Hepburn films inspired this colour.

Maybe I never said it out loud here in the blog but I have been coveting MadTosh Vintage ever since it came out but either there’s never enough skeins of the colour I wanted or none at all. I got lucky in the latest update from The Loopy Ewe and almost couldn’t believe it when I bagged 4 skeins of Oxblood.

Now what to make with 800 yards of this squishy true worsted weight yarn?

Remember how I said I am all about the MCN these days? Well, I still love good old superwash merino/nylon blend, esp if the colours pop. Well this skein surely pops!

This is Mountain Colors Bearfoot in Aurora Borealis colourway. Can you hear my little colour heart wibble and squeal at the same time?

Might as well call it Rainbow Connection. There are so many colours in this skein I cannot properly tag it in Ravelry! It’s also surprisingly squishy for a merino/nylon blend.

When I saw this in the shop my instinct told me this would make a great pair of Everyone Outta The Pool socks. I promised myself I would knit another pair, didn’t I?

The colours get prettier every time I look at them. *sigh*

Speaking of socks, I got picked by the talented Liz Abinante to test knit her new sock designs. Yes, you heard it right. Designs. More than one. Three in fact, but it’s test-knitter’s choice if they want to do one, two or all three. Let’s just say the mild case of cast-o-nitis flared up severely yesterday.

My daughter is not really knitting on the twisted rib cuff of Tobias, she’s just posing for me.

This is one of the designs. I’m using dkKnits technicolor dream toes in Pinch Me Plum colourway. It’s from a Rav destash last year. I’m using DPNs for this just because .. well, all my 2.5mm circulars are holding other stitches so I kind of had no other choice really.

Liz said. Tomorrow I will work on the two other designs and see how that goes. Plus I will try and knit some on the hoodie if I can.

That’s my weekend set then. What about you?

  1. I hope had a good roll around in all of that scrummy yarn!!! That red silk is one of the most gorgeous colors I've seen yarn-wise and that Rainbow Connection – wow! You got lucky with the Oxblood, my luck's always rotten and I can't wait to see Liz's new designs!
