I just realised that I never blogged about The Great Rare Gems Haul of the New Year!
I bought these skeins of Rare Gems but only two came home with me. The reds and the blues went home to Jackie, the green/brown and white/blue are mine.
I’ve only just broken into this haul and finished a pair of socks too. Seen here worn by the recipient, my daughter Eibee.
This is Everyone Outta the Pool! by Jas Chawla (Artsygal) and was voted as the (paid) pattern for Socks That Rawk Q2 KAL.
Slip stitch all around helps to break any potential pooling. It’s fun and easy to memorize and holds your interest long enough to make you want to finish the pair as fast as you can.
This pattern also features a new no-hole short row heel technique, which sadly I was not able to use for this pair because apparently I cannot follow instructions. I will knit this again, esp as I have a few Rare Gems waiting to be knit and then I will use Artsygal’s short row heel technique.
And did I tell you this is toe up? Oh yes, toe up baby. I haven’t done one of these in well over a year, since the Leyburns. It’s fun going back to the basics, like Judy’s Magic Cast On.
Project: Dive In (Raveled)

Yarn: Socks That Rock Lightweight
Colourway: Water Rare Gems
Needles: 2mm for the cuffs, 2.5 for everywhere else

Notes: I ditched the tubular cuff and used 1×1 ribbing instead.
Beautiful blue and no pooling at all with the stitch pattern.
