Tantalizing

Ishbel is a shawl pattern which I want to knit so very much but haven’t had time to start. So when the Ravelry Sundara Yarn Love Shawl for Sock Swap opened earlier in the summer, I jumped at the chance to sign up.

Basically two knitters are paired up, one a sock-knitter and another a shawl-knitter and they knit for each other using Sundara Yarn picked out of their own stash. I was paired with Emily from New York who sent me a skein of Brambleberry Sock which I knitted up into a pair of Leyburns.

She went through a lot of stuff with her family and life in general so my shawl got delayed. It was all worth the wait though because about 2 weeks ago I received this package.
Emily didn’t have enough blocking pins so she left the shawl unblocked and sent me a small packet of Soak so that I could block it myself. She also sent two yummy dark chocolate bars, which were polished off with much delight.

I blocked the shawl to within an inch of its life because I wanted a real big one. I actually asked Emily to use up the whole skein of Fingering Silky Merino which I sent her to knit the shawl. I think it turned out okay.
Emily is such a neat knitter. She did a wonderful job with this Ishbel which has already intimidated me . It is really beautiful.

Thanks very much, Emily!
