Sea-things and Socks

It does feel good to bind off and finish a knitting project. Not because I wanted to be rid of it but because it means I can shift my attention to other projects. And like with any achievement, I also get an immense sense of satisfaction.

The yarn used for this project was a gift from Larcy during the 2008 World Christmas Stocking Swap in Ravelry. So, thanks so much, Larcy!

Project: One Hank Ashburns
Pattern: Lorna’s Laces One Hank Socks by Black Dog Design
Yarn: Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Multi
Colourway: Ashburn, used all but about 5 yards of 1 skein
Needles: US2.5/3mm
Cast On: 27 Mar 2009
Cast Off: 13 Apr 2009
Notes: I only did 30 rounds on the legs as I was worried I’d run out of yarn. Turns out to be a great decision. This pair makes #4 this year and puts me right on schedule with my one-pair-a-month target for 2009.

This was how much yarn I had left.

My photography mojo has taken a backseat lately. Last Friday I did whip up some photos of the family, still being processed. I have a few though.

Isabelle was shy that day. Or she was probably already sleepy. Wouldn’t let me photograph her so I had to sneak this shot.

Some lovely seashells collected by my sister-in-law’s kids from the beaches of Dubai. Complete with a layer of sand at the bottom of the bowl!
Someone delivered some orchids in the office the other day and I plucked one flower from the bunch to take home and do some macros with. Purple!
Here’s a sneak peek into my Challenge Socks. The Loopy Ewe group in Ravelry is running a new quarterly challenge and this time it’s about finding a sock pattern which is extremely challenging for you. And you had to use yarn purchased from The Loopy Ewe, naturally. I’ll be using Dream in Colour Smooshy in Chinatown Apple. Yes, that dreaded brown skein of a yarn, which had shades of red in other skeins I’ve seen. I guess my apple was rotten. 😦
Yep, it’s Cookie A’s Pomotamus. With all that funky charts, I dreaded even reading this pattern for so long which is free from Knitty btw (thanks to the awesomeness that is Amy Singer!). But I have to face my fears somehow, and since I have more or less conquered DPNs and socks, I thought it was time, finally, to come face-to-face with my fear of charts.

Heaven help me.

A while ago, I offered to make/knit something to 5 people, only 1 responded. Any other takers?
