This is what 3 days without internet will do to you

You get your first vest done, soaked and blocked.

Aibi is modelling, which is actually a good thing because I can see how I would modify the pattern to knit one for her. Viel’s got a longer torso so the sleeves and v-neck opening do not necessarily fall where they should. But I love that it fits.

I had to undo the bind offs on the sleeves and neck as they were too tight. The pattern did say bind off tightly and using smaller needles. WRONG. It created very stiff openings you could hardly get your head or arms through. I bound off again using the same size needles used for the body and using a rather tight lace bind off.
It works better than I would have expected.

Project: College Girl Vest
Pattern: Hilja Vest by Niina Hakkarainen
Yarn: Dream in Colour Classy
Colourway: Lipstick Lava, used about 2.25 skeins
Needles: 4.5mm circulars
Cast on: 8 Mar 2009
Cast off: 8 Apr 2009
Notes: Didn’t bind off tightly as the pattern suggested, otherwise followed it to the letter.

You get to photograph two finished halves of two pairs of socks.

This first one is part of the first Sock KAL with the UAE Knitters Group in Ravelry. Simple pattern, supposedly using just one hank of Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock Multi. We shall see about that in a few days when I finish the pair.

The second sock is from the Socks That Rawk Group’s Q2 Sock KAL. This is sock #1 of the Shur’tugal pattern using STR Midsummer Night in Lightweight. I love this pattern, I love the yarn even more. Every time I use STR I find reasons why so many sock knitters swear by it and stash it in the bucketloads. I am seriously thinking about signing up for the other pattern (Mad Colour Weave) when I am done with this. Last but not the least, happy Easter everyone! Easy on the chocolate eggs.
