Floral Friday

Passing by the flower shop at Union Coop Safa Park last night, I saw a bunch of the most beautiful Gerbera daisies. I immediately saw some macro opportunities so I enlisted the help of my daughter to choose one out of the dozens of red, bright pink, pale pink and yellow daisies.

After about 5 minutes of looking at the flowers, we settled on this beauty.

And the macro shots commenced!

I swapped my trusty Nifty Fifty for the Sigma 70mm/f2.8 lens boosted by my Kenko Extension Tubes to get these next shots.

The baby’s breath deserved some attention too and this little blossom was a star.

No macro set is complete without the infamous water droplets. I love this one in particular because you can see how the droplet is clinging on to the tiny ‘hairs’ on the core of the flower.

And this I think is the money shot. I love how this turned out. I took the shot at f20, shutter speed 4″, ISO 100 on Manual mode.
Productive session, don’t you think?
