FOs: Whitewater and Ankle Socks

5 Jul

More knitting content. This time I bring you some finished projects. Jackie suspected that having all the time in the world to knit is what caused my right wrist to hurt this weekend. I wrapped my hand in bandage overnight to avoid unnecessary movement during sleep and it helped. Still, I’m taking it slow.

This is my favourite part of sock knitting: grafting the toe!

Soap, yarn and knitting

2 Jul

I posted this photo on Facebook and someone asked if it was a new pet. Sorry, no, cute as she is, Chandra is not ours. She belongs to Monika. I only visited. To learn how to make soap. :)

A few more photos

16 Jun

My DSLR has taken more than 20,000 photos since its life began. I think. The file number has reset to 001 again. I’m worried that it might not be too long before the end comes near for my dear 400D. Anyway, I’m going on a tangent when I meant to show you some more photos from our Abu Dhabi trip. Including this pair of keys which we uncovered in one of the suitcases while unpacking. We have no idea what this goes into!

Friday

7 Jun

I love my family! I tell them to smile and they do. I tell them to pose like this and they do. Wish one of them could take a photo with me in it and not end up with blurry shots. Remind me to take the tripod on our trip to Abu Dhabi.

WIP-tastic Monday

6 Jun

One day I will get myself organized and set up an online gallery of items knitted with my hand-dyed yarn. I’d like to know what becomes of my “babies”. Like this skein for instance. I honestly could not remember when it was bought but I have a note on my trusty book that Kay bought it at one of the Amiras meetings.

Rain

18 May

Over a year ago, I offered a skein of my hand-dyed yarn as a Ravelympics prize for the Amiras. I think. Can’t remember, but anyway, Rain was the winner of the skein so we talked about which colour she wanted. She wanted blue. I dyed one skein (on the left) and showed it to her but she was looking for something slightly darker. So I dyed another (on the right) which she loved. Phew! A week ago, we met up for a knitting catch-up and she showed me the scarf she knitted with this skein.

Amiras Weekend

9 May

A Friday with the Amiras is always so much fun: it involves knitting, food, yarn, food, chatting about projects, food….you get the idea. LOL. Hala and I were not strong enough to resist the call of this yummy chocolate cake. She had been craving this so was only happy to oblige.

Knitting Goals

26 Apr

It may seem a little late in the year to be talking about this but I thought I should keep myself in check with regard to my progress to date as well as look ahead. After all, we are bombarded at work to “write down your goals”. It’s about time I apply it to my knitting as well. As Caribou cafe says, life is short…

FO: Evelyn

24 Apr

A while ago, dear Amira Lindsay called out for testers of her new shawl design. I’m a sucker for test-knitting even though I have way more WIPs than a local SnB could handle. So yes, I signed up for it.

My delivery of the FO is late, but I enjoyed every minute of knitting it. This is what I have left from two skeins of Sundara Sport Merino.  I expected to use more for the pattern as written but, as long suspected, Sundara is generous in her yardage estimate for her yarns.  There has to be more than 225 yards per skein of this yarn.

Cupcake weekend

23 Apr

Before I give you photos of our cupcake weekend last week, let me share something that made us all laugh. The Amiras, five of us, met last Friday at Jackie’s home. It was awesome, and Jackie served us these crackers along with the yummy cranberry cheese, brie and something else. Salticrax. Ha ha ha!
