Luca loves my camera. He very nearly licked the lens! I showed him this close-up photo of him and he meowed, which means he approves it.

WIP it!
26 AugWIPs
26 JulI was going to go on about how I admire designers who get their designs tested by knitters for accuracy, clarity and possibly just a fresh set of eyes to look at it. I also wrote a bit about how I think anyone who expects knitters to buy their patterns should consider getting them test-knitted first rather than sending out erratas. But, I don’t want trouble so let’s just go on to this week’s WIPs, shall we?
First up is Ysolda’s Emily Capelet for my niece. I love Ysolda’s designs! I have yet to come across one of her designs where I want to throw everything away in frustration! And no, my comments above are not directed at Ysolda, not at all. Most of the time, it is knitter error when a project doesn’t seem to go the way it should. As the case is with this little thing. I love it, oh I love it. And I think I made the right choice in using Indigodragonfly’s MCN Sock in the Drusilla colourway. Oh, okay if you want to be anal about it, the colourway is called “When I Bit Into Him, I Could Hear The Ocean”. But I like to call it Dru. I love how it is shaping up.
WIP-o-mania
11 MayNB: Late post, sorry so changing the title because it’s not Monday anymore.
It had been a busy week both at work and at home so it was not very productive knitting-wise.
I did stick to my plan and worked only on two projects. The Mystery Shawl is up to Clue #3 as of last week and despite the longer rows and additional stitches, I persevered. There is something exciting about working on something where the FO is a complete mystery and watching it unfold right on your needles.

Amiras Weekend
9 MayA Friday with the Amiras is always so much fun: it involves knitting, food, yarn, food, chatting about projects, food….you get the idea. LOL. Hala and I were not strong enough to resist the call of this yummy chocolate cake. She had been craving this so was only happy to oblige.

Knitting Goals
26 AprIt may seem a little late in the year to be talking about this but I thought I should keep myself in check with regard to my progress to date as well as look ahead. After all, we are bombarded at work to “write down your goals”. It’s about time I apply it to my knitting as well. As Caribou cafe says, life is short…
Glad to be back
9 MarDear Blog,
Did you miss me?
I most definitely missed you. *bear hugs*
Sorry about the absence. You know I would not stay away that long on purpose.
Okay, so this is a drive-by posting but I want to show you some love, and also show my progress on the Dark and Stormy.
Love,
Me

Erm, yes, the D&S has grown some and then shrank back a bit again. One thing that hasn’t changed though is my choice of buttons. There will be 14 off these small pearl/shell buttons instead of the large ones shown on the pattern.

A day at Dreamland
29 DecIn December, temperatures in the UAE dips down to as low as 16C with highs of 24C. That’s fairly cold in these parts. So anyone who goes down to any body of water, man-made or natural has got to be out of their mind!
Well, not if you are holding very valid Entertainer vouchers than mean you pay for 2 instead of 5 to get to a water theme park, right? Ri-ight. That’s what we did the other day. We were supposed to go camping for the night but it was too darned expensive so we opted for the day pass instead. We had water (21C!), crows who take trips to the pool side to drink, some fun with a macro lens that I hardly ever use and, of course, the knitting. Always with the knitting.

Out to dinner
19 DecAt the end of the week, it’s always easier to just go out for dinner than spend another hour or so cooking. Much as I’d like to give my family home-cooked meals all the time, I sometimes have no energy left after a long week at work. So that’s what we did last Thursday.
We didn’t want to go far, and it was a unanimous decision anyway, so we went to Chow King in Qassimia. Of course, the knitting goes where I go. It was nearly done in this photo but I had to put it away once the food arrived.

Knitting in the park
18 NovI gave you a sneak peek of this swatch the other day. Pretty Woobu isn’t it? I was actually disappointed with the colourway (Rook-y) at first because I was expecting something darker. I thought since it is a Raven colourway, it would be darker. But the bamboo (or bambu as Blue Moon calls it!) I suppose makes it shine.

WIP-tastic Monday
6 SepThis is becoming easier as the weeks go by. I know I will never be without a project on the needles, but I hope the day will come when I will have just one WIP. Yeah, right!
This pattern has been in my queue for a while. Jackie knitted her version in Skein Queen Kimono a while back and I have been itching to do mine. I had planned to knit this for my daughter using Sundara Aran Silky Merino, since I only have 3 skeins of two colourways.
Last Thursday, the WIP looked like this.

It was taken at Johnny Carino’s at Festival City where we enjoyed an Iftar meal. Nearly killed me. I was so full, I couldn’t walk. Not going there again.
