FO: The Cotty Bug

3 Aug

When the sock knitting bug bites, it does not sting.

My love affair with knitted socks has barely scratched the surface. One thing I love though for sure is Irish Girlie Knits and her wonderfully delightful Cotty Socks. I have done four pairs so far and it doesn’t look like I will get tired of this pattern any time soon.

I present to you Cotty Socks #3 and #4.

Soap, yarn and knitting

2 Jul

I posted this photo on Facebook and someone asked if it was a new pet. Sorry, no, cute as she is, Chandra is not ours. She belongs to Monika. I only visited. To learn how to make soap. :)

A few more photos

16 Jun

My DSLR has taken more than 20,000 photos since its life began. I think. The file number has reset to 001 again. I’m worried that it might not be too long before the end comes near for my dear 400D. Anyway, I’m going on a tangent when I meant to show you some more photos from our Abu Dhabi trip. Including this pair of keys which we uncovered in one of the suitcases while unpacking. We have no idea what this goes into!

Eye-candy Friday

10 Jun

Being away from home means I have no access to photos of stash to show you today. Good thing I saved some photos of my own hand-dyed yarn in the laptop.

I have been re-organizing (again!) and this is phase 1 of the new shelves we bought from IKEA. I decided to get two of the 8-cubbyhole Expedit in the dark brown colour instead of the 16-cubbyhole because it would block out too much light in the living room. This is just one shelf when I unpacked the yarns and put them in their own cubbyhole. See, there’s more yarn drying in the rack?

WIP-tastic Monday

6 Jun

One day I will get myself organized and set up an online gallery of items knitted with my hand-dyed yarn. I’d like to know what becomes of my “babies”. Like this skein for instance. I honestly could not remember when it was bought but I have a note on my trusty book that Kay bought it at one of the Amiras meetings.

FO: Butterfly Breeze

31 May

Yesterday, I showed you this nearly finished pair of socks.

Thanks to a great, yet frustrating, episode of Game of Thrones, I finished the pair.

Rain

18 May

Over a year ago, I offered a skein of my hand-dyed yarn as a Ravelympics prize for the Amiras. I think. Can’t remember, but anyway, Rain was the winner of the skein so we talked about which colour she wanted. She wanted blue. I dyed one skein (on the left) and showed it to her but she was looking for something slightly darker. So I dyed another (on the right) which she loved. Phew! A week ago, we met up for a knitting catch-up and she showed me the scarf she knitted with this skein.

Nom nom

4 May

It’s not Friday yet, but I just have to show you this stash now.

I bought a bag (5 skeins) of undyed Malabrigo Sock over a year ago with the intention of custom dyeing it for myself and knitting a sweater out of it. Well, after months of procrastination and dilemma over colour choices, but mostly procrastination, I have done it. I dyed the suckers! What do you think?

Eye-candy Friday

15 Apr

This time it’s different. No yarn today, sorry, but it’s still something pretty.

I recently acquired some Piddleloop bags. Finally! I have seen the bags around in blogs and seen the adverts in Ravelry and have occasionally browsed the shop but never bought anything. Until now.

Jen is wonderful in her communication, such a delight to talk to and her enthusiasm on email spills over to how she carefully packaged the items. My first Piddleloop order included all of these!
