It’s been a while

27 Nov

Trust me to neglect my blog during NaBloPoMo! Work and home have been very hectic and I have resorted to micro-blogging via Facebook and Instagram/Tweeter. It covers the gap but does not necessarily fill the void. I promise to try and get better at this before I forget how to compose a post and add photos, etc.

First things first, babies! Over the last couple of months, two of our beloved Amiras (Louise and Marion) have given birth to beautiful little people. Naturally, we were there to give a baby shower.

Listmakers Unite!

29 Aug

I love making lists. Even if sometimes I only make it in my head. Life for groceries or immediate things to do for the house or the kids. Sometimes, like when I’m in the middle of the grocery store, I forget items in said lists so I grab the nearest writing materials I could find, usually Notepad in my phone, and jot them down. Then forget then I created a list in my phone and end up buying things I didn’t need and forgetting the things I need!

Ack!

Earlier this year, in March, I joined a group of individuals online on a little project. The aim was to create a list every day of the month. There were prompts for topics and you build on it. I did an actual list, jotted them down on a spiral journal but due to work and family commitments the list remained in the journal. I was not able to share any of it with the online group.

This time though, I plan to make a digital-only list. I have my template ready in Photoshop, just need to drop down the daily prompts and then make my list. Maybe I will print it out later and create a booklet. I haven’t really thought that far ahead yet.

What the eff is up with WordPress and Facebook lately?

I have WP authorized to connect with my FB account and have been sharing my post there for a while now. And suddenly I get this annoying yellow box in my Add New post window saying I will need “to authorize your WordPress.com account on Ten Thousand Dancing Stars to connect with your Facebook account. Clicking the link below will take you to Facebook where you will need to log in and click “allow” several times. Authorize connection with Facebook”.

Hello? Done that already. Months ago. Oh and guess what, dummy, I click the link and I get no window asking me to click Allow several times. It just takes me back to the friggin’ Dashboard. I’d be happy to click whatever you want me to click but show me the friggin’ button to click!

If you guys have issues keep it to yourselves and don’t cause undue irritation and the sudden urge to throw and break things and swear at the top of our voices at all hours!

FFS!

Update

29 Jul

Still here. Too lazy to blog. Plus the laptop’s been sequestered by my husband’s office so we have to share the PC at home with it’s highly unreliably wireless internet connection.

I have a few finished projects to show you but it’s all stewing in the drafts folder right now. Besides, it’s too hot in the children’s bedroom where the PC is and I hate staying here. I’ll be back soon with a proper post. In the meantime, I leave you with a gratuitous cat photo.

Happy weekend everyone!

Still here

12 Jul

Just don’t feel like blogging really. Well, that plus I have been suffering from headaches. Not migraine, thank goodness, but it’s persistent. I hope I kick it with a good dose of Zzzz’s tonight.

I also do not have any blog-worthy material to share. Well, I have, but I can’t. Not yet anyway. So let me entertain you with a list of things I am grateful for.

1. Family – We all say strange things about them. We love them. We hate them. But deep down we are grateful that we have them. They keep us grounded. Who else would knock you back down to earth when they see you’ve had your head in the clouds for far too long? And who else would make fun of you in front of friends and complete strangers? I love mine. They’re a bunch of weird and wonderful people.

2. Kids – I have four. Enough to make any grown person cringe. They’re a handful, but they also bring me so much joy. Yes, you have to scratch deep down to find that joy because it doesn’t always appear on my face. That joy is in my heart. I love them to bits, even when they drive me nuts. Which is all the time.

3. Knitting – I’d be biting my nails if it weren’t for knitting. These days my hands feel so naked if I don’t have my yarn and needles with me. I’d knit in my sleep if I could!

4. My Amiras and Ravelry – In direct relation to Number 3 above. I’d still be knitting twisted stitches if it weren’t for Ravelry! And my local knitting gals, the UAE Amiras, I love you guys!

That’s all for now. I need some shut eye or this headache will win. Catch you all later.

Seeing green

Lá Fhéile Pádraig Sona Daoibh!

That’s Happy St. Patrick’s Day in English.
Wear green, drink green beer, kiss someone who’s Irish. In other words, enjoy the craic.

Here are a few Irish-themed things I am doing today…

Yarn Along 1

15 Mar

Joining Ginny’s Yarn Along after seeing and loving the posts on Celtic Cast On.

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a single photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~

Reading: I picked up this book at Borders even before we went to see the film adaptation. I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore and Neil Kaplan is an engaging book. It’s written in plain English but even the addition of the Lorien and Mogadorian fictional lore it is still engaging. The film version is also very well done. Most of the time when they adapt a book to film, they film it assuming that the moviegoer knows about the backstory of the book. This time, even if you have never read the book you will understand and appreciate the story. I am looking forward to the film sequel.

Finally! Comic Con lands in the UAE!

5 Jan

Looks like I need not wait until I travel to Canada to get in on some Comic Con action. I just hope they bring in celebrities from well-known shows and not ones that we’ve never heard of.

And yes, by that I do mean those from shows that I watch like Stargate (although SGU has been cancelled *sob*), Supernatural (even if it’s just Misha Collins but of course Jensen and Jared are preferable!), The Vampire Diaries, etc. April can’t come around quickly enough!
